Partvo's agent and MCP CAD workflow in five minutes

By the Partvo team · October 1, 2026

This is a five-minute setup and review guide, not a promise that a model will finish in five minutes. Partvo sells a digital design workflow. Authenticated agents can prepare measured briefs, request hosted CAD generation, inspect a version and retrieve permitted files. Physical print quotes and fulfillment are not live.

  1. Minute 1 — check the live service. Read current capabilities and the OpenAPI contract. Model, export and service availability can change. STEP and STL depend on validation; DXF is available only for suitable flat cutting geometry and still needs CAM review.
  2. Minute 2 — let the owner set authority. The owner signs in at Studio, accepts the current terms, chooses the current credit plan and creates a scoped, expiring key at Agent access. Grant only the project, design and artifact scopes needed. Keep the key out of shared prompts and URLs. Credits are metered even when consumed AI work yields no usable model.
  3. Minute 3 — connect the agent. Configure a Streamable HTTP MCP client for https://app.partvo.com/mcp/v1 with Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY. Remote OAuth and anonymous MCP are unavailable. Call get_capabilities, then create_project with units, measured dimensions and intended use. Resolve any missing measurements before generation.
  4. Minute 4 — generate and review. Use get_project_allowance to check funded credits. Call generate_design for the confirmed brief, retaining its idempotency key if a retry is needed. Poll get_job for that job, then inspect the exact result, preview, dimensions and validation. Revisions consume credits and need review again.
  5. Minute 5 — export only a validated version. Complete any exact-version approval and export entitlement steps required by the account, then use get_download with the same scoped key. Open the STEP or STL in your own software and check fit, material and safety before fabrication. Do not treat an export as a manufacturing approval.

What does a completed digital example look like?

The founder-owned mounting plate example provides a real downloadable STEP, STL, recipe and validation report from a local agent integration pilot. It is labeled as a local test, with physical fit untested. For application developers, the developer guide explains REST and MCP access. The owner controls payments; an agent key does not itself authorize an unlimited purchase or print order.
